Emilia Altez, PTA

_______________

Em grew up in Fullerton and was a swimmer in high school.  She received her BS from CSULB in Zoology with emphasis in Physiology with an initial interest in veterinary medicine.

However, after hearing one of her classmates talking about her experience volunteering at the VA Hospital Long Beach, next door to the university, she was intrigued. She started volunteering at the VA as well and loved how rewarding the work was. A short time later, she completed the physical therapy assistant program at Cerritos College.

Em has over 20 years of experience working in neuro rehab and geriatric rehab, and has worked with patients of all ages. Her passion is to help people return to their highest quality of life.

She is certified in neuro-IFRAH approach and has had continuing education in kinesiotaping, balance and gait, and the DNS (Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization) approach.

Outside of work, Em enjoys spending time and going on outdoor adventures with her husband and dog, crafting, and serving on short-term mission trips to Japan and Nepal. She also enjoys volunteering with Samaritan's Purse for disaster relief around the country and with various adaptive outdoor sports programs.
